Facebook is building its own voice AI to rival Alexa and Siri

Facebook is working on its own Voice AI to rival Amazon’s Alexa, Apple’s Siri, and Google Assistant artificial-intelligence based digital Voice AI Assistant. Tis news was first covered by CNBC, which indicates that Facebook’s virtual reality team has been continuously working on this project since 2018 under the leadership of Ira Snyder.

This team has already started contacting several smart speakers manufacturers to integrate their own Voice AI in the future. However, in spite of giving a tough competition to other Voice AI companies, Facebook is more concentrated on developing the assistant for its Oculus headsets, its Portal smart display and future AR/VR devices.

A spokesperson from Facebook said to The Verge that  “We are working to develop voice and AI assistant technologies that may work across our family of AR/VR products including Portal, Oculus and future products.”

As for Facebook, this is not the first time for the company to build a Voice AI for its product. Prior to this, Facebook has launched its M assistant for Messenger in 2015, but unfortunately, it doesn’t stand still in the competition to Alexa or Siri and finally, it came to its end last year. But this time, Facebook is looking quite serious to its Voice AI, so, we have look further to its new voice AI in future when it will be launched for the audience.
