Blue tick accounts or paid accounts
All new — and new being the operative word here — Twitter Blue accounts will not require any ID verification. Prior to Elon Musk’s acquisition of Twitter, verified accounts had to go through a process of submitting certain ID to get a blue tick. Not any more. Twitter has made it clear that it will be an “an opt-in, paid subscription that offers a blue checkmark and access to select features.”
‘New’ Official accounts on Twitter or grey tick
Previously, all verified accounts had a certain amount — at times misplaced — of credibility. Not anymore as Twitter is introducing something called Official accounts. Or some previously verified accounts will get an Official label.
Can the Official account label be purchased?
No, no one can pay for it as the official label is not available for purchase.
Who can get an Official account label
As per the Twitter executive, accounts that will receive it include government accounts, commercial companies, business partners, major media outlets, publishers and some public figures.
Will this be the way forward for Twitter accounts?
At least for now but the Twitter executive said that the company will continue to experiment with ways to differentiate between account types.
