Experience Ground Zero at The Inaugural Atomic Blast

We are just weeks away from the highly anticipated film, “Oppenheimer,” which explores the life and work of the father of the atomic bomb. Led by the talented Cillian Murphy, this movie offers a unique glimpse into the Trinity test, recreated with no CGI shots. In a new featurette, the cast and director share their insights on capturing this pivotal moment that forever changed the world.

“Oppenheimer’s story has fascinated me for a long time,” says director Christopher Nolan. The film is based on the biography, “American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer,” written by Kai Bird and Martin J. Sherwin. Oppenheimer’s invention of the atomic bomb sparked much debate, as the scientist himself advocated for international control of nuclear power. Nolan explains, “During the Trinity test, they faced the terrifying possibility that pushing that button could ignite the Earth’s atmosphere and destroy the entire planet. Yet, they went ahead and did it.” This fact served as a driving force for Nolan, who wanted to transport the audience to that extraordinary moment in human history.

The cast of “Oppenheimer” is stacked with exceptional talent. In addition to Cillian Murphy, Emily Blunt portrays Oppenheimer’s wife, Kitty Oppenheimer, Matt Damon takes on the role of General Leslie Groves Jr., director of the Manhattan Project, and Robert Downey Jr. plays Lewis Strauss, among others. “The people involved in the Manhattan Project were charismatic and incredibly talented individuals,” says Kenneth Branagh, who plays Danish scientist Niels Bohr.

The film has been shot in authentic locations, from Princeton to Los Alamos, adding to the immersive experience. Producer Emma Thompson emphasizes, “Oppenheimer’s world is filled with rockstar scientists, and with our incredible cast, you truly believe it.” Covering decades of the scientist’s life and interactions with influential figures who shaped history, “Oppenheimer” is not just a film, but an exhilarating experience that keeps you on the edge of your seat.

“Oppenheimer” is set to hit theaters on July 21. Don’t miss out on this thrilling journey. Check out the featurette below for a sneak peek:
