The Insidious franchise returns with its fifth installment, Insidious: The Red Door, which marks the conclusion of the saga that began in 2010. The film brings back Patrick Wilson and Rose Byrne as Josh and Renai Lambert, who make their first appearance in the series since 2013. Along with his acting role, Wilson makes his directorial debut in the film, claiming that it will be the scariest Insidious movie yet.
Insidious: The Red Door takes place ten years after the second film and focuses on trauma as a source of horror, rather than jump-scares. Wilson approached the film from the “inside-out,” looking at how characters would develop over time. While the film sees Elise Rainier, played by Lin Shaye, returning to the series, the character aids the Lambert family through old recordings after her death.
The film is set to hit theaters on July 7th.
