EDITOR’S NOTEBOOK: You don’t miss your internet, until the phone won’t ring | Columns

Soul singer-songwriter William Bell probably expressed best what we were going through here at the Imperial Valley Press on Friday afternoon: “You don’t miss your water, until your well runs dry.”

It was somewhere between 11 and 11:30 that morning as I was working on answering emails from my new boss when suddenly the information I was updating in a Google document wouldn’t update anymore. It didn’t take me long to figure out I’d lost my internet connection, because, hey, I pride myself on having a firm grasp of the obvious, and besides, that’s what internet service does — it stops working.
