Dylan Jadeja named as Riot Games’ Newly Appointed CEO

According to an official statement from Riot Games, Nicolo Laurent is stepping down from his role as CEO and will be replaced by the current global president, Dylan Jadeja. The transition is expected to be completed by the end of 2023, and Laurent will assume an advisory role to focus on his family after serving as CEO for six years.

Laurent has been with Riot since the company’s inception in 2009 and became CEO in 2017. However, he has been accused of encouraging a sexist culture at Riot, with allegations of sexual misconduct leveled against him personally. Despite being cleared of wrongdoing in an investigation, Laurent has decided to step down from his position.

Dylan Jadeja, who has been with Riot since 2011 and held the position of global president since 2017, will succeed Laurent as CEO. According to Laurent, the company “looked both inside and outside the company to find the very best person for this role,” indicating that Jadeja was chosen based on his qualifications rather than simply being promoted from within.

Laurent expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to be CEO of Riot in an open letter to the company’s employees and fans. He will remain with Riot in an advisory position going forward.

“As CEO, it is fair to assume that I may do some things differently than those before me, but I want to assure you that the goal for us – together – will not waver. And that is to make Riot, unequivocally, the most trusted and authentic game company in the world… built by players, for players.”

Riot has faced criticism for a sexist work environment in the past, with reports of sexual harassment and discrimination. The company settled a lawsuit for $100 million in 2018 brought by female employees who alleged misconduct.
