The Blood Knight: Diablo’s First New Class in Nine Years
In the recent Diablo Developer Update, the highlight was the announcement of Diablo 4 Season of the Malignant. However, Diablo Immortal also had some exciting news with the introduction of a brand-new class. The Blood Knight marks the first new class in the Diablo franchise since the release of Diablo III’s Crusader in 2014.
Although Diablo Immortal may not appeal to everyone due to its monetization system, it still managed to generate over $500 million in just one year. Surprisingly, the Blood Knight class will be free for all players when it launches on July 13.
Become a Blood Knight in Diablo Immortal
After the update on July 13, players will be able to experience the Blood Knight class regardless of their progress in Diablo Immortal. There are three ways to play as a Blood Knight. First, you can start a new character as a Blood Knight. Second, you can use the Class Change feature to switch your existing character into a Blood Knight, with only a one-day cooldown for the first three weeks. Finally, you can participate in the three-week-long event called the Crimson Plane, which allows you to try out a variety of Blood Knight skills and Legendary Items.
The Blood Knight class focuses heavily on life-steal attacks. While it may not be the most mobile class, there are Legendary Essences available to improve mobility. Its life-stealing ability allows it to excel in close-quarters combat for extended periods. The Blood Knight is described as a melee hybrid with a unique transformative skill. Once fully charged, this skill grants a whole new skill bar with a new primary attack.
More in the Blood Knight Patch
The update to Diablo Immortal introduces more than just the Blood Knight class. Alongside it, there will be 60 new class-specific Legendary Items and a brand new Legendary Gem. The Spiteful Blood Legendary Gem offers a berserker effect, increasing damage dealt when below 50% health and providing an absorb shield when activated.
Personally, I find the Blood Knight class impressive based on the gameplay segments shown. While I may not be interested in returning to Diablo Immortal, I’m sure those who can overlook its pay-to-win elements will have a great time playing as the Blood Knight. As for me, I can only hope that Diablo 4 will eventually introduce a cool new class like this.
Assume the mantle of the Blood Knight when it releases in Diablo Immortal on July 13.
