Destiny 2 Goes Free-To-Play On Stadia This Week

0

Google has announced that Destiny 2 will be free-to-play on Stadia starting November 19. Whether players are Pro members or not, any Stadia user can play Destiny 2 at no additional charge.

As announced on the official Stadia blog, this freebie includes the “core Destiny 2 experience,” suggesting it won’t feature all of its DLC and seasonal content. An exact rundown on what’s available was not shared.

Also on November 19, Destiny 2: The Collection–a package that bundles Destiny 2’s earlier expansions, such as Forsaken and Shadowkeep–will no longer be available for Stadia Pro subscribers to download. Stadia Pro members who already downloaded Destiny 2: The Collection will still have access to the game so long as they maintain their subscription.

There are a few other Stadia updates as well. The 64-player battle royale version of Pac-Man, Pac-Man Mega Tunnel Battle, is now available to purchase for $20 USD. So, too, is Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate Edition, which retails for $60 USD on Stadia. And ahead of its December 3 launch, the Immortals Fenyx Rising demo has returned as a free download until December 21.

Destiny 2’s latest expansion, Beyond Light, has seen some issues since launch. Despite its myriad problems, though, developer Bungie still plans to release the new raid on November 21.

Correction: An earlier version of this story said Destiny 2 goes free-to-play on November 17.
