After the characters reach their fullest potential in the brief events of the Hashira Training arc, Muzan Kibutsuji makes an unexpected appearance at the Ubuyashiki household, following which he and Kagaya walk around the property. During this walk, they discuss the history of Muzan himself, as well as that of the Ubuyashiki family and the reason their curse exists. Over here, it’s revealed that Muzan is a distant relative of the family from 1000 years ago and his sins are what had caused the curse in the first place.

Muzan intends to kill Kagaya but is shocked when the head of the Demon Slayer Corps blows himself and his entire household up in an effort to damage the Demon King. Knowing that this wouldn’t be enough to kill him, he does this to damage and hold Muzan in place long enough for the Corps to rush to their position and take him out. However, just as they reach him, the doors to the Infinity Castle open and swallow them all up.

The Best Fights In The Whole Series

The arc properly picks up after the Corps is dropped into the Infinity Castle and dispersed into different parts of it. Each section of the Castle is filled with demons that the Corps has to come together and face, though the main characters and Hashira come across the remaining Upper Demon Moons, and the fights that take place between them promise to be some of the greatest that the industry will ever see.

One such battle is Insouke, Shinobu, and Kanao facing off against Upper Moon Rank 2; Doma. Though these are all powerful characters in their own right, Doma does more than prove his position as the second-highest ranked demon because his power is legendary, as the ability to manipulate ice allows him to create magnificent and deadly structures that the heroes must avoid. This fight is made even more special as all of the heroes are connected to Doma in one way or another, giving the fight a very emotional element.

Another incredible battle takes place with Tanjiro and Giyu going up against Upper Moon Rank 3; Akaza, a familiar villain who killed Rengoku back in the Mugen Train arc. This fight is incredible and intense, as the Slayers give everything they have to fight an incredibly powerful combatant that demands the utmost strength from them. This fight ends with an incredibly unexpected and emotional conclusion.

However, no demon proves their strength and justifies their position within the 12 Kizuki quite like Upper Moon Rank 1; Kokushibo. This demon is a nightmare to face, combining all the strengths of the pinnacle of swordsmanship in tandem with the benefits that come from Demonhood, as he faces down the strongest heroes in the series. This fight also ends unexpectedly and promises to deliver action and jaw-dropping animation. Though these are just a few fights, the arc is filled with many more incredible battles where each character gets a moment to shine.

Kokushibo’s unique Flesh Katana isn’t just for show. Here’s what makes it stand out from other weapons in Demon Slayer.

The Opportunity For the Series’ Best Animation

demon-slayer-tanjiro

Demon Slayer has already cemented itself as one of the best animated shows of modern anime. However, the animation and spectacle that the Infinity Castle arc promises to show will obliterate the competition, as the fights in this arc introduce new and visually stunning abilities, the likes of which have never been seen in the series before.

From the Flesh Katana wielded by Kokushibo to the gigantic ice structure of Buddha that Doma creates, each scene in this arc continuously outdoes the previous ones. The fights here are fast-paced and the abilities of every single character are on full display, something which would look incredible on the screen as the fights that happen here are flashier than ever, all while the Castle itself shifts and changes in the background.

Incredible Character Moments

Akaza-upper-3

Demon Slayer is a series that is no stranger to emotional moments and tugging on the viewers’ heartstrings now and then. However, these moments exist more potently than ever in the Infinity Castle arc, as the final arc of the series says goodbye to many beloved characters. These characters are all incredible, but the handling of their deaths in this arc leads to some of the most poignant and beautiful moments in the entire series.

A very interesting note is that these incredible moments aren’t only limited to the characters that fans have seen since the first episode and have gotten close to. Without getting into spoiler territory, some villains have beautiful, tear-jerker moments that either serve to redeem them or show them coming to terms with their situation as they’re finally confronted with the horrors that they have committed in the past. This contrast of giving evil characters emotional moments makes for some of the most beautiful storytelling in the arc.

Since this is the final arc of the series, many fans have grown to love the main characters in the series, so saying goodbye to them is an especially powerful moment for them. Despite it being a fairly lengthy arc, it serves as the perfect way to say goodbye to Demon Slayer.

Demon Slayer can be streamed on Crunchyroll and Amazon Prime.
