Dell XPS 15 (2020), XPS 17 (2020) With 10th Gen Intel Core Processors, Up to 2TB Storage Launched: Price, Specifications


Dell has launched two new notebooks from its XPS series – XPS 15 9500 (aka XPS 15 2020) and XPS 17 9700 (aka XPS 17 2020) models. Both of these updated notebooks comes with a new design and is powered by top-of-the-line hardware. They also feature a larger 16:10 displays and up-firing speakers along with Waves Nx 3D audio technology. In addition to that, XPS 15 and XPS 17 comes with an increased fan airflow to dissipate more heat and provide enhanced performance. Read on to get more details on them.

Dell XPS 15 9500 Specifications and Features

The updated Dell XPS 15 features a 15.6-inch InfinityEdge display that has a 16:10 aspect ratio. You can get this laptop either with a 4K UHD+ (3840×2400 pixels) touchscreen display or with a Full-HD+ (1920×1200 pixels) non-touchscreen display.

Under the hood, the XPS 15 is powered by a 10th-generation Intel Core i5-10300H on the base variant that goes up to the 10th-generation Intel Core i9-10885H. The processor is coupled with up to Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 Ti GPU and up to 32GB of DDR4 SDRAM. For storage, Dell is offering three PCIe 3 SSD storage options – 1TB, 512GB, or 256GB. You can choose any one depending upon your requirements.

One of the notable things that came with this update is the new speaker placement that is just on the dock, alongside the keyboard. It also has Waves Nx 3D audio tuned by Grammy Award-winning producer Jack Joseph Puig. The built-in technology can track head movements while wearing headphones to align the direction of the sound to your visual point-of-view. It also uses head-tracking through the speakers to uplift the audio.

The Dell XPS 15 9500 runs on Windows 10 Home. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth v5.0, two Thunderbolt 3 ports, and a USB Type-C 3.1 with power delivery, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and DisplayPort support. Besides, the phone is fuelled by a 56Whr battery on the non-touch version and an 86Whr battery on the touchscreen model.

Dell XPS 17 9700 Specifications and Features

On the other hand, the Dell XPS 17 9700 comes with a 17-inch InfinityEdge display with Dolby Vision support and 94 percent DCI-P3 color gamut. Similar to XPS 15, this model also comes in 4K UHD+ touchscreen and full-HD+ non-touch display options.

Under the hood, the Dell XPS 17 9700 is powered by up to 10th-generation Intel Core i9-10885H processor options, paired with up to Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 graphics and up to 64GB of DDR4 SDRAM. For storage, Dell XPS 17 9700 is packed up with up to 2TB PCIe 3 SSD storage.

The Dell XPS 17 9700 has two 1.5W tweeters and two 2.5W woofers. It is also tuned with Waves MaxxAudio Pro and Waves Nx 3D audio technologies. The machine is running on Windows 10 Home.

In terms of connectivity, the Dell XPS 17 9700 has Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth v5.0, four Thunderbolt 3 ports, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. It also comes bundled with a USB Type-C to USB-A 3.0 and HDMI 2.0 adapter. Besides, this laptop is fuelled by up to 97Whr battery. 

Dell XPS 15, XPS 17 Price and Availability

As for the price, the Dell XPS 15 9500 price starts at $1,299.99 (approx Rs. 98,200), while the Dell XPS 17 9700 price begins at $1,499.99 (approx Rs. 1,14,000). To move data from your existing Windows-based PC, Dell has also offered the Dell Migrate tool at $39 (approx Rs. 2,900).

As for availability, the XPS 15 9500 is available for purchase in Canada and the US starting today. It will also hit markets in Asia and Europe later this week. n the other hand, the XPS 17 9700 will be available in Canada and the US alongside some Asian and European markets later this summer.
