As gaming advances and graphics get better and better, one thing doesn’t change – Age of Empires. While we haven’t heard anything yet about Age of Empires IV, the Gamescom opening night show did have some news for folks looking to get their AoE fix. Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition will be releasing on PC this October.

Originally released in 2005, Age of Empires III received a mixed reception, although it did introduce some new features to the franchise. Home cities were the largest among these, giving players a more unique kind of home base they could expand out from to conquer the world.

This year’s release of Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition will include all the DLC that originally came out for the game, including some new content. With a new face of 4K Ultra HD makeup, the game looks absolutely stunning, and while the trailer didn’t give us a hint of what we can look forward to in terms of remastered audio, it’s not hard to beat the original release’s standards. Players will also have the opportunity to play as the Inca or the Swedes, two new factions added in this version of the game.

Two new game modes are also making their way into Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition. In historical battles, players will be able to recreate clashes between ancient armies in pre-built scenarios, while The Art Of War will offer new, challenging missions to test seasoned AoE veterans.

This will all be available when Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition launches October 15 on PC via Steam, the Windows Store and Xbox Game Pass for PC.
