DC Originally Planned to Reboot Franchise With a ‘Flashpoint’ Movie

The Big Picture

  • Originally, the plan for the DC Extended Universe was to reboot it with a Flashpoint movie following Zack Snyder’s Justice League storyline.
  • The Flash movie was initially set to feature Professor Zoom as the primary antagonist, paving the way for a larger narrative in the DC Universe.
  • Although the universe was not rebooted in The Flash movie, a new era for DC on the big screen is set to begin with James Gunn’s Superman: Legacy.

Oliva’s animated adaptation of Flashpoint also served as the foundation for the DC Animated Movie Universe, which began with Justice League: War in 2014, another film directed by Oliva.
