Dating App Tantan shuts down from major Android App Stores

Chinese dating app, Tantan is reported to be removed from all the major Android app stores. On Sunday, many Chinese publishers reported that Tantan app has been removed from App Stores; however, on Sunday morning, this app was still there on Apple’s App Store and on Mi Store. But just after a couple of hours, this dating app has been removed from them too.

One of the officials from Tantan said that this action against the company has been taken due to violation of some policies. Few of the Chinese outlets also reported that Tantan has been found with some ads for adulteries and thereafter, in a cleanup effort by internet authorities, they also found that Tantan and some other nine messaging-related apps are hosting pornographic contents. And so they all have been taken down from the App Stores. As of now, the company is continuously working on to rectify these issues.

TanTan has been one of the largest dating apps in Asia with over 3.9 million paying customers as of end-2018. In the last year, the company has gained huge popularity somewhat like the world’s most famous dating site, Tinder. However, in February 2018, Tantan was procured by its largest competitor Momo in a $600 million buyout.
