The renowned composer, Gustavo Santaolalla, known for his work on “The Last of Us” series and the TV show, hinted at the existence of a new edition of “The Last of Us Part 2.”
In an enlightening interview with Blender, Santaolalla revealed that players will have the opportunity to engage in new interactions with his character cameo in Jackson during Part 2. He tantalizingly stated, “In the new edition, you can make me play certain themes, and well, I can’t disclose anything further.” (via Resetera) Existing players can find Santaolalla’s cameo sitting on a rocking chair with a banjo, a delightful addition to the game. Although the protagonist, Ellie, does not acknowledge his presence or initiate dialogue with the character.
As of now, developer Naughty Dog and parent company Sony Interactive Entertainment have not officially confirmed the composer’s claim of an upcoming edition of The Last of Us Part 2.
While Part 2 was initially released on PlayStation 4, it received a performance-focused update in 2021. This update enhanced the visuals and overall gameplay experience. However, it did not fully leverage the capabilities of the PlayStation 5. This led fans to speculate whether the new edition of the game will be an optimized PS5 version, incorporating features like 3D audio, haptic feedback, and an extensive physics system similar to the Part 1 remake. Alternatively, fans also pondered the possibility of Part 2 being released on PC.
It’s worth noting that the PC port of Part 1 received mixed reviews due to severe technical issues. Naughty Dog addressed these concerns, stating, “We understand that some of you did not experience the expected Naughty Dog quality. Sharing our stories and experiences on PS5 and PC is something that Naughty Dog embraces and will continue to support in the future.”
In other gaming news, voice actors in “Genshin Impact” have raised concerns about significant payment delays and have advocated for developer miHoYo to support unionization.
