Cleopatra Coleman Engages in a Confrontation with Lizzy Caplan

In a unique and captivating Collider clip for the film “Cobweb,” Cleopatra Coleman goes beyond the typical duties of a substitute teacher, much to the dismay of Lizzy Caplan. Taking on the role of Miss Devine, Coleman presents Carol, played by Caplan, with a disturbing drawing made by her son, Peter (played by Woody Norman), during class. This macabre image is the stuff of nightmares and serves as an indication that any film featuring a child will be thrilling and chilling. Carol, shocked by what she sees, struggles to believe that her son could have created such a sinister piece of art. However, she quickly dismisses her disbelief, attributing it to Peter’s overactive imagination, a characteristic that keeps her and her husband, Mark (played by Antony Starr), busy throughout the night. Carol retreats back into her home, leaving Miss Devine standing outside with the door slammed in her face.

This clip is just the latest eerie glimpse of Samuel Bodin’s directorial debut for Lionsgate, “Cobweb.” The story focuses on a family pushed to their limits when Peter, their young son, hears a never-ending tapping sound coming from the walls of his bedroom. Paired with haunting nightmares, these unsettling noises keep Peter awake most nights. Initially, his parents handle the situation with care, but as his fear intensifies, he begins to question the intentions of those around him, including his own parents. Fortunately, there is one person in Peter’s life who seems trustworthy – his substitute teacher, Miss Devine, who senses that something is amiss in his home life.

The film stars Antony Starr from “The Boys” and “The Covenant,” alongside Lizzy Caplan from “Party Down” and “Mean Girls,” as well as Woody Norman, who earned a BAFTA nomination for his role in 2021’s “C’mon C’mon.” With this star-studded cast, Bodin is pulling out all the stops for his feature-length debut. The screenplay, written by Chris Thomas Devlin, the mastermind behind the upcoming 2022 remake of “Texas Chainsaw Massacre,” has already gained recognition, being featured on the prestigious 2018 Blood List and Black List, known for promoting promising new writers in the industry.

Adding to the anticipation, “Cobweb” is produced by powerhouse names such as Seth Rogen, James Weaver, Evan Goldberg, and Josh Fagen for Point Grey Pictures, alongside Roy Lee from Vertigo Entertainment and Andrew Childs from “Salem’s Lot.”
