The Big Picture
- French actress Clémence Poésy has joined The Walking Dead spinoff as Isabelle, a nun and member of the Union of Hope. She spreads hope in post-apocalyptic Europe and fights off the undead to protect survivors of all religions.
- In France, Daryl Dixon forms new relationships, including with Isabelle and a boy named Laurent, as he becomes invested in the resilient people of the broken country.
A new country on a new continent means new allies for Norman Reedus as he returns to the world of The Walking Dead with the upcoming spinoff series The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon. Chief among those new companions is French actress Clémence Poésy, who plays the role of Isabelle. Isabelle is an enigmatic nun responsible for aiding Daryl upon his arrival in France. With the highly-anticipated series officially less than a month away, AMC is shining a light on her role in Daryl’s solo journey and as a key member of a resistance network with a new video.
Poésy’s character, Isabelle, stands out as she is not your ordinary nun. Instead of simply spreading the word of God, she focuses on spreading hope among the remnants of humanity in Europe as a member of the Union of Hope. Unlike other religious groups in post-apocalyptic stories, the Union is inclusive and welcomes members of all religions. Isabelle and the nuns are determined to help people survive and are armed to fight off both the undead and those who prey on survivors.
Outside of France, Poésy brings an impressive resume to her role in Daryl Dixon. She is known for her recurring presence in the Harry Potter films as Fleur Delacour and has also appeared in acclaimed movies such as In Bruges and Tenet. Her recent television appearance in The Essex Serpent showcases her ability to portray characters with care and hope, regardless of their religion.
What Does Daryl Dixon’s Trip to France Entail?
In Daryl Dixon, Norman Reedus’s character embarks on a journey throughout France to uncover how and why he ended up there. While his initial goal is to return home, Daryl becomes emotionally invested in the people of the resilient yet broken France. He forms new relationships with fellow survivors like Isabelle and a boy named Laurent (played by Louis Puech Scigliuzzi) whom he protects. With the series already renewed for a second season, there will be plenty more adventures for Daryl in the European countryside.
Joining Poésy in the series are Adam Nagaitas, Anne Charrier, Laika Blanc Francard, Romain Levi, and Eriq Ebouaney as fellow cast members. Melissa McBride, who portrayed Carol in the main series, was originally set to co-star with Reedus but later left the project for personal reasons. However, a behind-the-scenes photo shared by former co-star Jeffrey Dean Morgan confirmed McBride’s involvement in the series in some capacity.
The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon premieres on September 10 on AMC. Be sure to watch the new video below, which highlights Clémence Poésy’s role in the upcoming series.
