China may put a ban on Twenty Games Including Fortnite and PUBG

The Middle Kingdom has a huge presence as well as an impact on the global video game industry. And undoubtedly the Chinese trends are impactful across the world. If you are to believe the rumours circulating around, it looks like China is about to put a ban on some of the most critically acclaimed game titles including Players Unknown Battle Ground (PUBG) and Fortnite. As per the reports, the Government of China has populated a list of around twenty titles that will be banned, and amongst these, nine games may be banned for an infinite duration.

The Government running the country has allegedly banned these games citings the reasons that they are spreading wrong values amongst the gamers and followers. The seemingly “wrong” message involves gore, violence, as well as an inappropriate amount of nudity. The Online Ethics Review Committee of China is allegedly seeking to put an absolute ban on nine video game titles and the rest of eleven games that remain will need to include certain ammendments and censor a few other items regarding the suggestion made by the Committee. Only after the necessary changes have been made, will the video game titles be available legally in the nation.

Popular video games such as PUBG, Fortnite, and Overwatch might be banned entirely as they clearly violated the code laid down by the Government of China. The committee has cited the chat rooms of World of Warcraft (WoW) to be very toxic and it has found Legend of Legends along with Overwatch to have a number of feminine characters who reveal an excessive amount of skin. The most upsetting news for the gamers has been the fact that a few skins available in some popular games have been banned by the Ethics Review Committee due to the disturbing images depicting violence and gore.

This move will greatly and adversely affects the commerce of the gaming world as the population of China is one of the richest sources of revenue through games. Stay tuned with TechnoCodex for more updates.
