CES 2020: Galaxy Chromebook 2-in-1 With Built-In Stylus, AMOLED Display, Two Cameras Launched


Samsung has introduced its latest flagship Chromebook during the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2020. The latest Chromebook is dubbed as Samsung Galaxy Chromebook which is a thin and light 2-in-1 convertible that runs on Chrome OS, comes with a built-in stylus, and supports Google Assistant as well. 

Like most of the 2-in-1 convertible laptops, it comes with a 360-degrees hinge to flex in four modes – tent, flat, laptop, and tablet. The new Galaxy Chromebook is termed as the thinnest Chromebook by Samsung with a 9.9mm thickness and is also the first Chromebook from the company to sport a 4K AMOLED display. It is also one of the lightest Chromebook by Samsung weighing just 1.04kg.

Samsung Galaxy Chromebook – Specifications

The all-new Samsung Galaxy Chromebook comes with a 13.3-inch (3840×2160) 4K AMOLED touchscreen display that offers a crystal-clear visual experience. The Samsung Galaxy Chromebook will soon get HDR400 support to deliver high-contrast graphics, along with Ambient EQ capabilities. However, this feature will not be available at the time of launch but will be shipped later via a software update.

Under the hood, the Galaxy Chromebook is powered by an Intel’s 10th Generation Core i5 processor paired with Intel UHD graphics and up to 16GB of LPDDR3 RAM. Additionally, it comes with up to 1TB of SSD storage. 

As its name suggests, the Galaxy Chromebook runs on the latest version of Chromebook. It comes equipped with fingerprint recognition, 2W stereo speakers, and a backlit keyboard. There is a 1MP front camera at the top and secondary an 8-megapixel shooter is loaded on the Keyboard deck. 

Connectivity options on this Chromebook include Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax), two USB Type-C ports, UFS/microSD combo, internal digital dual-array mic, and mono mic. Apart from this, the Galaxy Chromebook is fuelled by a 49.2Wh battery.

Samsung Galaxy Chromebook – Price and Availability

As for the price and availability, the Samsung Galaxy Chromebook is priced at $999.99 (approx Rs. 71,000) and will go on sale in the first quarter of 2020. The 2-in-1 convertible will be available in Fiesta Red and Mercury Gray color options. It is built using durable aluminum and comes with a built-in stylus.
