Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse has had a successful opening weekend at the box office. The sequel to the critically praised 2018 film made over $120 million in its first three days in North America. One of the reasons for its success is the film’s extensive marketing campaign, which includes new Marvel Legends and Funko Pops for Across the Spider-Verse. As fans continue to watch the film, a S.H. Figuarts figure of Miguel O’Hara (Spider-Man 2099) is now available for pre-order.
The seven-inch figure is based on the film’s version and features Spider-Man 2099 in his classic comic book costume. It’s fully articulated and comes with a variety of accessories, including web effects, an unmasked Miguel head sculpt, a red cloak, interchangeable hands, a neck piece, and a Spider-Society bracelet. The figure is priced at $134.99.
Spider-Man 2099: Friend or Foe?
Spider-Man 2099 has been in comics for over 30 years and gained popularity through video games like Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions and Spider-Man: Edge of Time, but Across the Spider-Verse is mainstream audiences’ first true introduction to the character. In the film, Spider-Man 2099 is a complex and tragic character, much like the other Spider-People, and carries the weight of being the leader of the Spider-Society. Without revealing any spoilers, 2099’s backstory is reminiscent of Scarlet Witch, another Marvel anti-hero turned villain, which makes his quest understandable. The emotional turmoil in Oscar Issac‘s voice adds to the character’s depth and impact on Miles Morales’ journey in Beyond the Spider-Verse.
When Does Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse Release?
The third film in the Spider-Verse trilogy, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, releases on March 29, 2024. While audiences eagerly anticipate the next installment, fans can now pre-order the S.H. Figuarts figure of Spider-Man 2099 on Entertainment Earth’s website. The website also has other figures from the Spider-Verse line, including Spider-Gwen and Miles.
