With only an average of 26 percent on the aggregation site, co-directed by Tatiana von Fürstenberg and Francesca Gregorini, Tanner Hall holds the unfortunate title of being the lowest-rated movie in the Academy Award winner’s career in the eyes of the audience, with a critical consensus of 16 percent placing it near the bottom.
This manipulative drama follows Rooney Mara’s Fern as she enters her senior year at the titular boarding school. However, things become exceedingly difficult when a childhood friend, portrayed by Georgia King as Victoria, resurfaces. Victoria attempts to infiltrate Fern’s inner circle, including Larson’s character Kate, with the aim of undermining her social status and humiliating her publicly.
It’s no surprise that Tanner Hall, one of the least well-received films in the extensive filmography of Carol Danvers in the MCU, isn’t regarded highly. However, it’s interesting to note that the recent release of the second full-length trailer for The Marvels has generated renewed interest in the film, drawing it out of obscurity on streaming platforms 14 years after its limited theatrical run that grossed a mere $5000.
According to FlixPatrol, despite its less than stellar reputation, Tanner Hall has become one of the most-watched titles on Paramount Plus. However, it’s unlikely that Larson’s critics will be seeking it out.
