MTV fans are curious about the differences between the American Jersey Shore and the UK version, Geordie Shore. Find out which show is the best.
MTV fans want to know who would win a battle of the Shores, the original Jersey Shore or the UK’s Geordie Shore. Viewers are arguing about which reality show is better.
The iconic Italian flag printed on the garage still welcomes fans as they drive down the main strip close to the Jersey Shore house in Seaside Heights. The property became a famous attraction during the reality show’s six-season run on MTV, with the show following eight roommates living on the Jersey Shore. The famous cast has filmed in New Jersey, Italy, Miami, and Las Vegas. The cast consisted of Ronnie Ortiz Magro, Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino, Jenny “JWoww” Farley, Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi, Deena Cortese, Pauly D, Sammi Giancola, Vinny Guadagnino, and Angelina Pivarnick.

Some American fans of Jersey Shore may not be aware that MTV Europe took the same format across the pond, with a spin-off on the Tyne in Newcastle, Geordie Shore. The original cast members were James Tinsdale, Gaz Beadle, Sophie Kasaei, Charlotte Crosby, Holly Hagan, Vicky Pattison, and Ricci Guarnaccio. There were some add-ins, with the two most important ones being Scotty Timlin (Scotty T) and Kyle Christie (who now appears on The Challenge). The premise was the same i.e. get absolutely “mortal” (drunk) and watch the mayhem unfold, including hookups and fights.
Both houses had a special room for hookups, respectively called the “smush room” or “fu*k hut.” Both houses were mini-mansions, and each one was set up with amenities, such as a hot tub, outdoor furniture, and a pool table. As for nightlife, Newcastle seemed to offer a better clubbing atmosphere. While Karma in Seaside may be good for a beach weekend, these lads and lasses made it their mission to look their best, apply false eyelashes, and sport their best frocks. There was no fist-pumping, which did count against them.
Both franchises also traveled abroad, with the Geordies heading to Mexico while the Jersey kids visited Italy. Way more drama occurred when the group was in Italy, including Mike putting his head through a wall. At the same time, the Newcastle group was overwhelmed with the amount of Americans on Spring Break. While it was also easy to fall in love with the Jersey Shore cast, many found it hard to find a favorite cast member on the Geordie side. One of the main differences is the fact that the UK can air raunchier footage, such as Holly flashing and major cursing. The chemistry between the two groups can’t be denied, but the Jersey Shore family actually comes across as a family, which is in the group’s favor.
The final verdict is that the Jersey Shore group had real chemistry. Most of the cast members are still close. The American cast seemed more authentic and likable. Of course, Jersey Shore was always trashy, but it resonated with most college kids in America, especially if they grew up in New Jersey.
