Blockbuster WhatsApp upgrade offers new way to chat on iPhone and Android

WhatsApp users are already avidly sending voice messages, but now there’s an exciting new feature to enhance communication. Meta-owned WhatsApp, the widely popular chat app, has recently introduced video messages. With a single tap on the screen, users can now create and send short video clips to their contacts.

These video messages can be up to 60 seconds long, offering a fun and interactive way to engage with contacts. WhatsApp explained, “Voice messages on WhatsApp revolutionized communication by providing a quick and secure method to share your voice. We are thrilled to expand on this feature with instant video messages, allowing you to record and share short personal videos directly within the chat.”

According to WhatsApp, sending a video message is as effortless as posting a voice message. Users only need to tap to switch to video mode and hold to record the video. Additionally, users can swipe up to enable hands-free recording. When opened in a chat, videos will automatically play on mute, with sound activated by tapping on the video. To ensure privacy, all video messages are protected with end-to-end encryption.

Video messages are being gradually rolled out and will soon be accessible to all users in the coming weeks, including both Android and iPhone owners.

This update follows closely on the heels of another WhatsApp upgrade aimed at combating cold calls and scams. The “Silence Unknown Callers” feature enhances user privacy and control over incoming calls. It actively filters out spam, scam calls, and calls from unknown individuals for heightened protection. While these calls won’t ring on phones, they will appear in the Call list just in case they are from important contacts.

WhatsApp emphasized its commitment to user support, stating, “Protecting your message privacy remains our primary focus at WhatsApp. While end-to-end encryption forms the foundation for secure calls and messages, we continually incorporate additional layers of privacy protection.”
