Blizzard Claims Login Problems Resolved After Diablo IV Server Breakdown on Previous Day

The launch of Diablo IV was impressively seamless, setting a new standard among triple-A online games. However, as expected, the servers buckled under pressure the following day. The queue-based login system reported massive waiting times, and even when players were able to log in, the game would not load. Blizzard’s Customer Support division quickly acknowledged the issue and provided timely updates on Twitter.

Fortunately, the login issue appears to have been resolved, but it was a frustrating experience for many European players during peak hours. Despite this, Blizzard should be thrilled with the game’s launch success. Diablo IV set a new sales record for the company, with players racking up over 93 million hours of gameplay in the first few days of early access. The exact number of units sold is unknown, but with Diablo III selling 3.5 million units and WoWorld of Warcraft: Shadowlands 3.7 million units, Diablo IV could regain the throne for best-selling PC game.

In our game review, we praised Diablo IV as a return to form for the Californian company, despite its lack of innovation. However, its long-term success as a live service game will depend on regular content and significant feature updates that address players’ feedback. Blizzard has been actively addressing bugs and tweaking game aspects, such as adjusting the level range of World Bosses and increasing the damage dealt by the Pinnacle boss.

Overall, Diablo IV’s launch was a massive success, but it’s the game’s continued growth and evolution that will ultimately determine its lasting impact. As it stands, Blizzard’s commitment to addressing player concerns and engaging in ongoing development bodes well for Diablo IV’s future.
