Benchmark leaks of upcoming Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 surge, indicating imminent launch

The highly anticipated launch of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 is just around the corner, and we’ve come across another leak that sheds some light on what to expect. Recently, benchmarks for the global variant of this foldable device have surfaced online, providing us with additional insights.

The benchmarks (via SamMobile) indicate that the performance of the global variant is slightly below that of the US variant, which was previously benchmarked in March. However, once the device is officially released and further software and hardware optimizations are implemented, we can expect the same level of power regardless of where it’s purchased.

Phone manufacturers often release different variants of their handsets to cater to various cellular and wireless standards across different countries. However, the key specifications of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5, such as the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor and 12GB of RAM, will remain consistent worldwide.

Although there is some speculation involved, the Samsung SM-F946B codename is likely associated with the international version of the Z Fold 5, based on previous devices and historical patterns. The actual name of the phone is not mentioned in the Geekbench listing.

Android 13 on board

Another interesting detail revealed by these benchmarks is that the Galaxy Z Fold 5 will run on Android 13, indicating that Android 14 will not be ready in time for this particular foldable. The software is expected to be finalized around August or September.

This information further suggests that the launch of the Z Fold 5 is imminent. We anticipate its unveiling alongside the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 and a range of other devices at a special Unpacked event scheduled for the end of July. This event will likely showcase not only foldable phones but also tablets and wearables.

Numerous specifications have already been leaked for the Galaxy Z Fold 5. It is expected to feature a 7.6-inch inner screen, a 6.2-inch outer screen, a triple-lens rear camera (50MP+12MP+10MP), and storage options of 256GB, 512GB, or 1TB, depending on personal preference and budget.

However, this year Samsung will face competition from the Google Pixel Fold. Google’s own foldable device has received mostly positive reviews, so Samsung will be aiming for a favorable reception for its flagship foldable as well.
