Ben Kingsley Welcomes an Alien into His Home

Bleecker Street presents an exclusive sneak peek at their highly anticipated science-fiction comedy/drama, “Jules,” starring the legendary Academy Award winner, Ben Kingsley. With his remarkable talent, Kingsley won the coveted Oscar in 1982, the same year that Steven Spielberg’s iconic film, “E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial,” was released. Now, after four decades, Kingsley is about to embark on his own extraordinary journey, reminiscent of the film “Cocoon.” Directed by the talented Marc Turtletaub, known for his work on “Puzzle,” “Jules” revolves around Milton, a regular man leading a peaceful life, until an unexpected visitor from outer space crash-lands in his backyard, turning his world upside down.

The film showcases Kingsley’s exceptional performance, as he continues to captivate audiences following his Oscar-winning role in “Gandhi.” Joining him in this stellar cast are Harriet Sansom Harris from “Licorice Pizza,” Zoe Winters from “Succession,” Jade Quon from “Transformers: The Last Knight,” and Jane Curtin from “3rd Rock from the Sun.” Turtletaub’s directorial brilliance shines once again, having received an Academy Award nomination for his work on “Little Miss Sunshine.” The film is produced by Deborah Liebling and Andy Daly from “65,” Michael B. Clark, and Alex Turtletaub from “The Miseducation of Cameron Post.”

In a serene small town in western Pennsylvania, a man’s peaceful routine is disrupted when a UFO and its extraterrestrial passenger crash-land in his backyard. This event sets off a remarkable chain of events, as Milton and his friends form an unbreakable bond with the alien, affectionately named “Jules.” However, complications arise when their presence is discovered by two nosy neighbors, leading to a comical and imaginative series of situations. As the government intervenes, the trio embarks on an enchanting adventure, reflecting on the true meaning of life in their twilight years, guided by the little blue man from the sky.

“Jules” has already received rave reviews following its world premiere at the prestigious 2023 Sonoma International Film Festival, where it was selected as the opening night film. The audience’s overwhelming response led the film to win the esteemed Stolman Audience Award for Best Feature.

North American audiences can experience the magic of “Jules” in theaters starting August 11. Be sure to watch the captivating trailer below for a glimpse into this extraordinary cinematic journey.
