Baldur’s Gate 3, the latest release from Larian Studios in the Baldur’s Gate series, has achieved the highest PC game rating of all time on both Metacritic and Opencritic.
Following an extensive early-access period, the third installment of the beloved Baldur’s Gate video game series was launched on PC. The game is also scheduled for release on PlayStation 5 next month, with an Xbox Series version in development. However, the Xbox version is experiencing delays due to difficulties implementing split-screen functionality on the Xbox Series S.
Since its successful launch earlier this month, we have already reported that Larian Studios’ game has broken Steam concurrent player records and is currently the best-selling game on Valve’s platform. It is safe to say that Baldur’s Gate 3 has started off on a high note. Additionally, Opencritic lists Baldur’s Gate 3 as the highest-rated game in history across all platforms, even beating acclaimed titles like Breath of the Wild, Tears of the Kingdom, RDR2, Elden Ring, and being on par with Super Mario Odyssey.
It is important to note that Baldur’s Gate 3’s rating is currently based on a ‘mere’ 26 critic reviews on Metacritic and 40 critic reviews on Opencritic, while titles like Tears of the Kingdom have well over 140 critic ratings on both websites. As more critic reviews come in, it is likely that the average score for Larian’s game will decrease slightly.
