Ke Huy Quan has left an indelible mark on the film industry, particularly during the 1980s. He showcased his talent as Indy’s sidekick Short Round in the iconic film Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom and followed that up with the memorable role of Data in The Goonies. Despite facing challenges in securing roles afterward, Quan transitioned his career to become a stunt and fight coordinator, most notably contributing to Hugh Jackman’s portrayal of Wolverine in X-Men (2000).
However, Quan made a remarkable comeback last year with the critically acclaimed film Everything Everywhere All at Once, for which he received a well-deserved Academy Award and numerous other accolades. Excitingly, Quan is now set to make his debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) in the upcoming season 2 of Loki, and will also appear in the Disney Plus show American Born Chinese.
Returning to his roots, Quan recently attended the premiere of Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, where he paid tribute to the film’s star, Harrison Ford, for inspiring his love for acting. He expressed his admiration to Entertainment Tonight:
“Every time I see him – he’s such a gracious man, such a humble man. And the reason why I love acting so much is because of him, because of that experience that we had on Temple of Doom. So, here we are so many years later. I can’t help myself. Every time I see him, or Steven [Spielberg], or George [Lucas], I have to give him a big hug because these men changed my life. Who would’ve thought that 39 years ago we premiered Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom right next door at the Mann’s Chinese Theater, and so to be able to be here tonight is incredible.”
We eagerly anticipate Quan’s portrayal of a TVA archivist in Loki season 2, where he will bring his vast expertise in the multiverse. Marvel Studios would be wise to tap into his exceptional skills in martial arts and action sequences.
Mark your calendars for the return of Loki to Disney Plus on October 6.
