Asus 6Z aka ZenFone 6 is finally launched in India. Just before the India release, the company has already launched this phone in Europe in mid-May as the Asus 6Z and now the company has shipped this phone in the same name in the Indian Market. Key highlights of the Asus 6Z include a motorized rotating camera module that transforms from the rear camera into the front camera, a full-HD+ display, and an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC.
Asus 6Z Specifications
The all-new Asus 6Z sports a 6.4-inch FHD+ (1080×2340 pixels) IPS screen with 19.5:9 aspect ratio, 92 percent screen-to-body ratio, 600 nits peak brightness, and 100 DCI-P3 color gamut. Furthermore, the display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 6 protection to protect the display from minor scratches.
Under the hood, the smartphone is powered by the octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC which is based on the 7nm fabrication process and is coupled with Adreno 640 GPU. In addition, it comes with 8GB of RAM and with up to 256GB of inbuilt storage (UFS 2.1 storage technology) which can be expandable further up to 2TB via a dedicated MicroSD card.
In the camera department, Asus 6Z features a motorized camera module that includes a 48-megapixel primary shooter with a Sony IMX586 sensor, an f/1.79 aperture, a laser focus module, 1.6-micron pixel size which uses Quad Bayer tech, and a dual-LED flash module, There is also a 13-megapixel secondary ultra-wide-angle camera with 125-degree and real-time distortion correction to fix the barrel distortion normally seen in wide-angle cameras.
As mentioned, this motorized camera automatically rotates to about 180-degree to work as a selfie camera. Asus says it has opened the Cam2 API on the Asus 6Z, allowing users to utilize third-party camera apps. An HDR Enhanced mode and Super Night Mode have also been added by Asus.
The best thing is users can control the rotation of the camera allowing users to capture images at any desired angle. The company has also added fall-protection for the camera module, which will automatically retract the camera to its base position if the phone detects sudden movement.
Apart from this, the Asus 6Z runs on the latest Android 9 Pie over the company’s Zen UI 6 out of the box. The company also promises to upgrade it to the Android Q or Android R as soon as it became available for the users. Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac (Wi-Fi 5), Bluetooth 5.0, GPS/ A-GPS, FM radio, NFC, USB Type-C, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
The Asus 6Z also bundles stereo speakers at the top and bottom position. It is fuelled by a 5,000mAh battery with Quick Charge 4.0 fast charging. The company claims that the Asus 6Z will deliver at least 33.5 hours of battery backup once on a full charge. It also supports reverse charging up to 10W over a USB Type-C cable. An 18W Quick Charge 4.0 charger will be bundled in the box.
Asus 6Z Price and Availability
In India, Asus 6Z is priced at Rs. 31,999 for the 6GB RAM/ 64GB storage variant, Rs. 34,999 for the 6GB RAM/ 128GB storage variant, and Rs. 39,999 for the 8GB RAM/ 256GB storage variant.
As for the availability, the Asus 6Z will go live on its first sale on June 26 via Flipkart. It will be available in Midnight Black and Twilight Silver color variants.
