Apple is gearing up to launch its upcoming flagship iPhone 12 series sometime later this year. Well, we already have a wide array of leaks related to the series indicating that there will be four models of the iPhone 12 series, all compatible with the 5G network.
A recent report suggests that the company will also launch two more models under this series that will be coming with 4G compatibility and will be quite cheaper than others. And now, a new report points out that the iPhone 12 series could come without the charger and Earpods in its retail box.
This fresh report comes from Apple analyst Ming-chi Kuo who has a good track record in the past revealing news related to the upcoming Apple devices. According to Kuo, Apple will ship the iPhone 12 without EarPods and a power adapter in the box. In this way, Apple is probably looking forward to increasing sales of AirPods. However, the lack of a power adapter comes as more of a shock.
Kuo says that the decision is made for pricing reasons. Apparently, the production cost of the iPhone 12 is significantly higher because of 5G support. However, the Cupertino-based tech giant is planning to launch the iPhone 12 series at a price closer to that of the price of the iPhone 11 series. So, removing the power adapter and AirPod will help the company to achieve that price goal.
Kuo also says that the company will soon stop production of its 5W and 18W adapters, and will sell a new 20W fast charger instead. There will be no difference in the design of the charger and will look similar to that of the 18W adapter.
The lack of a power adapter was also previously reported by analysts at Barclays. Kuo’s note adds confirmation to his record and makes it appears to be more accurate.
