Apple WWDC 2019: iOS 13 with Dark Mode and iPadOS announced by Apple


Apple has finally held its annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in San Jose on Monday and announced a bunch of new hardware and services. Along with watchOS 6 and tvOS 13, the company has also announced the new iOS 13 with Dark Mode and an operating system for iPad called iPadOS.

After a series of rumors and leaks, finally, iOS 13 is here with Dark Theme as expected. Dark Mode is changing apps like Apple News, Notes, Photos, and even wallpapers will be darker. Even the Share Sheet for sharing photos will turn dark in this mode. As rumored, the dark theme will also be applied to the Apple Music app when the native theme setting is switched to dark.

Apart from the dark theme, iOS 13 also comes with faster unlocking with Face ID. With iOS 13, smaller downloads will be available from App Store and the system updates too will be 60 percent smaller. Now, all apps on iOS 13 will be launched 2X faster than before. At last, timed-sync lyrics are coming to Apple Music at iOS 13.

Apart from this, Apple is increasing privacy for the users. With the new iOS 13, Apple is adding a new feature for location sharing where users will be able to share the location only once with an app and the app will then have to ask for this again.

iOS 13 comes with a new Map UI which let you have an immersive 3D experience that lets you pan around 360 degrees and move seamlessly down streets.

For the messaging and services, iOS 13 brings Siri can now read incoming messages aloud. This lets you listen to your messages without even holding up your mobile. You can even make your own Memoji with new hairstyles, headwear, makeup, and piercings. These Memoji automatically become sticker packs that live in your keyboard. So you can use them in Messages, Mail, and third‑party apps.

Additionally, Apple is also introducing a new Sign in with Apple feature where users will be able to sign in via their Apple Face ID, and not have to give up personal information to an app.

As for the compatibility, iOS 13 is compatible with most of the iPhone including iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone SE, iPod touch (7th generation), iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone X,  iPhone Xs, and iPhone Xs Max,


Now, this is the thing which we liked the most. Apple’s iPads are getting their own iPadOS. It comes with an easier interface and a lot of gestures enabled to simplify the usage of iPads. Apple is bringing the multi-window capability to apps on iPads. So you can have a split-view in two notes. It also works for third-party apps. This will also let users open two Microsoft Word Documents side-by-side.

It comes with a completely new personalized home screen that let you to take advantage of the large iPad display. This new layout lets you see more apps on the home screen. Also, one can pin his favorite apps on the home screen to use them frequently.

With the new iPadOS, one can do more with Apple Pencil. With this handy tool, you can use it for drawing, note-taking, and marking things up.  Now with even lower latency, writing with Apple Pencil feels even more like writing on paper.

There is a lot more functionality added in the iOS 13. It makes it easier and faster to select and edit the text using just your fingers. You can perform different actions like Copy, Paste, Undo, Redo, and many more with simple gestures. It also comes with an onscreen keyboard which can be used anywhere on any app to input alphabets and numbers. You can also use a physical keyboard like the Smart Keyboard if you want one. Apart from this, there are lots of features added in the iOS 13. For the privacy concern, it comes with the same security as that of iOS 13.

As for the compatibility, iOS 13 is compatible with most of the iPads including 12.9-inch iPad Pro, 11-inch iPad Pro, 10.5-inch iPad Pro, 9.7-inch iPad Pro, iPad (6th generation), iPad (5th generation), iPad mini (5th generation), iPad mini 4, iPad Air (3rd generation), and iPad Air 2.
