Apple WWDC 2019: Apple announced Mac Pro and macOS Catalina


Along with iOS 13 and iPadOS, Apple has announced its new Mac Pro and macOS at its annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in San Jose on Monday. The new Mac Pro comes with the latest and powerful hardware and software. While the macOS comes with a lot of features added to it which allows users to take most out of it.

Mac Pro

Finally, Mac Pro is here. This time, Mac Pro is using the Intel Xeon processor with 28-cores and it has over 300 watts of power.  It has 6 channels of super fast memory and 1.5TB of system memory. This new system has 8 PCIe slots, Two Thunderbolt ports, Two USB-A ports, and 3.5mm headphone jack.

The latest Mac Pro can be configured with two MPX Modules which can be configured up to four GPUs either with AMD Radeon Pro 580X, AMD Radeon Pro Vega II, AMD Radeon Pro Vega II Duo. As for the power supply, it can load with up to 1.4 kilowatts. Operating range varies between 108–125V or 220–240V at 1280W and 100–107V at 1180W.

Additionally, it comes with Afterburner ProRes and ProRes RAW accelerator card that can supports playback of up to 3 streams of 8K ProRes RAW or up to 12 streams of 4K ProRes RAW. Its storage capacity can be configured with up to 4TB of SSD storage which comes in four variants.

This new Mac Pro runs on the latest macOS which has been announced at the same WWDC 2019 event. As far as its availability is concerned, Mac Pro is said to be available in fall 2019 at a price tag of $5,999.

MacOS Catalina

At the WWDC 2019 event, Apple introduces its MacOS Catalina which is loaded with a lot of features. Out of them, the first is Apple Music which will be available as a dedicated app on macOS. It will also bring a dedicated podcast app and a new Apple TV app as well.

In addition, Apple is integrating voice control to Mac which let the user to control the system functionality with the voice command. As expected, Screen Time will also come to macOS which lets you control how much time you spend on an app or on the screen.

With the launch of MacOS, most of the iPads apps will be coming to the Mac means you can enjoy all your iPad apps on your big screen. They can run easily with your native Mac apps on your system as independent apps. Enjoy a broad range of Mac apps, with everything from travel, entertainment, and gaming to banking, education, and project management.

With the new MacOS, one can do more with Apple Pencil. With this handy tool, you can use it for drawing, note-taking, and marking things up.  Now with even lower latency, writing with Apple Pencil feels even more like writing on paper.

macOS Catalina brings all your favorite Screen Time features to Mac, giving you greater insight into how you’re spending your time. Monitor usage, schedule downtime, and set limits for both apps and websites across all your devices.

Apart from this, Apple is increasing privacy for the users. With the new MacOS, Apple is adding a new feature for location sharing where users will be able to share the location only once with an app and the app will then have to ask for this again.
