Since its initial launch in 2015, Apple has been releasing new models of the Apple Watch every year, albeit with minimal upgrades. However, that may change with the upcoming Apple Watch X, which is rumored to have more significant changes to celebrate its tenth anniversary, as reported by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman.
The upgrades for the Apple Watch X could include a magnetic band attachment that replaces the current slide-in design, allowing for a larger battery. Additionally, it may feature a thinner watch case and a microLED display that offers a superior picture quality compared to the current OLED screens. In terms of health features, the Apple Watch X is expected to introduce a blood pressure sensor alongside the existing heart rate monitor, sleep tracking, and blood oxygen detection found in the current models.
If Apple follows its annual release schedule, it is likely that this updated Apple Watch won’t hit the market for another year. However, if Apple wants to wait a whole decade after the first release of the Apple Watch, it might take two years before the Apple Watch X is available. In the meantime, the Apple Watch Series 9 is set to be unveiled at an event in September. This new model will bring a faster processor, a first since the Series 6, and introduce some new colors. The size is expected to remain the same as the Series 8 across its models, making it a limited upgrade overall.
