Every year in September Apple launches the new iPhone alongside the Apple Watch. The Apple Watch has become a staple on Apple’s annual calendar and even though the iPhone may not launch in September this year, rumour has it that the Watch could launch. Adding credence to that rumour is a new report by Bloomberg, which says that Apple is set to launch not just one but new models of the Watch.
As per the report by Bloomberg, Apple will launch the successor to the current Watch Series 5 as well as an affordable Watch. While the Watch Series 6 has been expected, the more affordable Watch will replace the Watch Series 3.
Just last week a leaked listing on the Eurasian Economic Commission revealed that Apple has registered eight variants of the upcoming Apple Watch. Before any Apple device is released it has to be listed in the EEC database. The Watch Series 6 models that were filed in the EEC listing include, A229, A2292, A2351, A2352, A2375, A2376, A2355, and A2356.
The new Apple Watch Series 6 is expected to feature a pulse oximeter and a larger battery. The pulse oximeter is used to measure the amount of oxygen in a human being’s red blood cells. Doctors recommend that a reading between 95%-100% is an indicator of enough oxygen levels.
It will be interesting to see what features does Apple give in the expected affordable Watch. Just like it is the case with Pro models of iPad or the iPhone, the Watch could very well see a similar fast processor but miss out on some features The Apple Watch for the last three years has launched in India around Rs 35,000. The expected affordable Watch could be launch at a much-reduced price making it an entry-level offering from Apple in the segment.
