Apple has filed a new patent for MacBooks showing a completely different but interesting feature for its MacBook machines. This new patent suggests a MacBook that can be used as a charging dock for other Apple gadgets such as the iPhone or smartwatches. Interesting, isn’t it?
Well, we found this new patent with the help of young tech enthusiasts, @Gadgetsdata who shared this patent via his Twitter account. According to the details, this patent was filed back on Dec 5, 2019, but recently came into existence.
This new patent shows a MacBook with an iPhone and Apple Watch placed at the top of it. Although it was quite difficult to understand what this patent wants to convey, we get to know more about it by reading the details given on the patent. According to the patent, it shows a MacBook which is used for inductively charging other Apple devices such as iPhone and Apple Watch.
The patent suggests that MacBook will have a battery placed inside an encloser with an inductive coil coupled with the battery. This battery could work in two different modes – one to wirelessly receiving power and another to wireless transmitting power to other devices. This indicates that the upcoming MacBooks will be able to charge other devices wirelessly and can charge itself with wireless charging support.
As of now, there are no further details have been given by the company. Also, just like most of the patents, there is no guarantee that this patent will turn out to be a real product. However, this is really an interesting idea to be inducted on MacBooks. We already have many smartphones that support reverse charging. So, it might not be much harder for Apple to implement such a feature on MacBooks.
