From the past few weeks, Apple has been giving its best efforts to help fight the COVID-19 pandemic. In the same move, the company is working on its Maps app to start showing he COVID-19 testing centers to the people.
According to a report by 9To5 Mac, Apple has launched a special portal for hospitals, healthcare providers, labs, and other businesses to register as COVID-19 testing centers. Once applied, Apple will review and verify these applications to check their credibility. The verified healthcare providers will appear on Apple Maps as the coronavirus testing locations.
“As a healthcare provider, lab, or other business, follow these steps to submit information on COVID-19 testing locations that Apple may display to its users,” Apple wrote on its portal.
As per the report by 9to5Mac, these verified locations will be highlighted on Maps using an asterisk sign. It will also show details such as the name of the place, associated healthcare provider, and the contact details of the website. In addition to this, Apple Maps will also list details about whether the location is a lab or a hospital for a better understanding of the users. Additionally, Maps will show if the highlighted COVID-19 testing site requires a doctor’s referral or a prior appointment.
Well, it will take some time to complete the testing and verification for the locations that will be highlighted on the Apple Maps. When there will be enough testing facilities, Maps could prove vital for people who don’t have any third-party apps to know the accurate testing facilities.
