Apple launches new MacBook Air, MacBook Pro: Price, specs and more

At the One More Event tonight, Apple introduced the all-new MacBook Air and MacBook Pro. The two new MacBook laptops will be powered by Apple’s own M1 chip, which was also unveiled at the event. Both the new MacBooks will be available for sale starting November 17.
Apple MacBook Air specifications
The new MacBook Air will feature the M1 processor that has a powerful 8-core CPU performs up to 3.5 times faster than the previous generation and starts at Rs 92,900. According to Apple, the M1 chip’s storage controller and latest flash technology deliver up to 2 times faster SSD performance. Apple made a bold claim and said that the MacBook Air with M1 is is faster than the processor in 98% of PC laptops sold last year.
The new MacBook Air will be available in two storage variants — 256GB and 512GB. The 512GB storage variant will start at Rs 1,17,900.
The biggest change to the Air is that comes with a fanless design, in other words it’s a completely silent laptop. Apple also said that the MacBook Air has the longest battery life ever seen with up to 15 hours of wireless web browsing and up to 18 hours of video playback. MacBook Air has a Retina display and features the Magic Keyboard.
Apple 13-inch MacBook Pro specifications
Starting at Rs 1,22,900, the new MacBook Pro features a 13-inch Retina display and is powered but the same M1 processor found in the MacBook Air. Apple claims that the new MacBook Pro delivers up to twice the battery life of the previous generation and the longest battery life ever on a Mac. The battery life can last up to 17 hours of wireless web browsing and up to 20 hours of video playback.
Some of the other new features the new 13-inch MacBook Pro include studio-quality mics for clear recordings and calls. Apple claims that the latest camera ISP in the M1 chip enables sharper images and more detail in shadows and highlights on video calls. The new MacBook Pro also delivers high-level security with the Secure Enclave in M1 and Touch ID.
