Apple iPhone 8 & iPhone 8 Plus Pre-order Begins


On Thursday, September 12, Apple has unveiled the much awaited iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus along with the anniversary addition iPhone X (iPhone Ten). While we have to wait till November 3 to get the new iPhone X but pre-orders for iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus is now begins in 29 countries and regions as part of the first wave.

The first wave of countries includes Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, China, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, UAE, the UK, the US and US Virgin Islands. While in India we have to wait till September 22. Pricing of the iPhone 8 begins at $699/€799 for 64GB/256GB respectively and iPhone 8 Plus begins at $799/€909 for 64GB/256GB. For the Indian market iPhone 8 price starts at Rs. 64,000/Rs. 77,000. Similarly iPhone 8 Plus starts at Rs. 73,000/Rs. 86,000 for 64GB/256GB.

At the first look the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus looks similar to their predecessors but on the back there is all new glass panel, they sport a metal and glass bodies. The new iPhones sports Aerospace-grade series 7000 aluminum frame with 7-layer color process. The iPhone 8 and 8 Plus come in Silver, Space Gray and a new Gold color options.

The iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus comes with 4.7” and 5.5” New Retina HD displays. The new displays come with Apple’s True Tone technology. The new duo also supports stereo speakers placed on the top and bottom of the device which are 25 percent louder then previous. Both the new iPhone models also support Qi wireless charging and fast charging – you can get from flat to 50% in 30 minutes.

The new iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus are powered by a 64-bit A11 Bionic SoC six-core processor coupled with a first-ever Apple-designed GPU which is 30 percent more efficient than the previous. The A11 Bionic chip features two high-powered cores that are 25% faster than the A10 cores and four power-efficient cores they are 70% faster than the two low-power cores in the A10 Fusion.

The cameras of the new iPhones retain the same 12MP resolution but Apple claims that the new sensor gives improve ISP better detail and texture. The iPhone 8 features the same 12MP with an f/1.8 aperture.  While the iPhone 8 Plus comes with dual 12MP cameras, the primary comes with f/1.8 aperture and the secondary telephoto camera comes with f/2.8 aperture. Both are offering  OIS and quad LED flash and among other new capabilities, both the new iPhone models can shoot 1080p videos in 240 frames per second.

The tele photo on the iPhone 8 Plus has a neat new feature – Portrait Lighting. The dual camera on the iPhone 8 Plus scans the scene, identifies the face of your subject and (in real time, mind you) adjusts the tone curve of the face to make it better lit. And you can adjust the effect after you’ve taken a shot – neat!

The iPhone 8 is mentioned to give 14 hours of talk time and the bigger iPhone 8 Plus offers up to 21 hours of talk time.
