Apple March Event 2019: Apple TV+, Arcade Game, Apple Card, and Apple News+ Launched: Keynote Highlights


After a week of the announcement of its special event, Apple finally held its “Show Time” event at the Steve Jobs Theater in Cupertino, California, on March 25. CEO Tim Cook himself handled this event and made the announcements of its new services and subscriptions.

Apple TV+

At first, Tim Cook announced the launch of the company’s new video streaming service called Apple TV+. Along with Cook, Renown filmmaker Steven Spielberg also came on the stage to introduce this service and his show – Amazing Stories on the brand new Apple TV+. Also, Oprah Winfrey joined them on the stage announcing that she has been working on two new shows to be launched on Apple TV+. Many other celebrities came on the stage to announce their upcoming shows on Apple TV+.

Apple TV+ will be an ad-free having Apple Originals. The user of Apple TV+ will be able to download all videos for offline viewing. As for the pricing, Apple hasn’t confirmed yet about the pricing of Apple TV+, however, it will be revealed in Fall 2019 when Apple TV+ will launch in the market. This service will be available in more than 100 countries including India.

Apple TV

Along with Apple TV+ service, Apple will also bring an update for Apple TV in May. Apple TV will also hit the Mac later this year. Basically, this update will be mainly focused on the addition of Channels like HBO, Showtime, Amazon Prime Video, PBS, CBS, Acorn TV, and Tastemade. All of these live channels are categorized under Apple TV Channels.

In addition to these channels, subscribers can also choose some paid channels on demand. They can also watch contents they purchased from iTunes. As of now, the pricing has not been revealed. However, this service will be available in over 100 countries.

Apple Arcade Game

During this event, Apple also launched its new paid subscription services for iOS games called Apple Arcade. This subscription service will come with over 100 unique games which aren’t available on any other mobile platform or services. It will include games such as Fantasian, Lifelike, Beyond a Steel Sky, Overland, and many other games.

All of these games which comes under this subscription will be available to play offline with neither ads nor any in-game purchases. This one-time subscription can be shared with atmost 6 users at no extra cost. Means, you can share your Arcade subscription with up to 6 members of your family or friends. Apple Arcade will be available via App Store and will be coming in Fall 2019. However, Apple hasn’t revealed the pricing of this subscription.

Apple Card

During this event, this is one among the major announcement by Apple. Apple has launched a new payment service called Apple Card along with its own Apple Pay payment service. Apple Pay service will allow you to make transactions via your iPhone. You can register yourself for this service in minutes with your iPhone and your Apple card will be activated in minutes for use. You can use this Apple card anywhere in the world having Apple Pay service.

Apple Card’s banking partner is Goldman Sachs and payments partner is MasterCard. Apple comes with a Daily Cash reward which returns 2 percent of the payment you made toward your credit card balance, in-app purchases, or transferring to friends. It also rewards you 3 percent of your amount you used to buy Apple products. Apple card doesn’t charge you any fees, even it doesn’t charge any late fees giving its users freedom to clear debts at ease.

The best feature of the Apple card is its security. The physical Apple Card comes with no credit card number, no CVV, no expiration date, or signature. It generates new security codes each time you make a purchase. Even details of your transactions are also stored locally to prevent them from being misused.

Apple News+

At last, Apple introduced its online magazine service called Apple News+. After a successful career of Apple News, the company upgraded its service with a premium service. Apple News+ will feature more than 300 magazines at a monthly charge of $9.99. Like Apple Arcade, the subscribers can share this service with their friends and family with upto 6 members.

In the initial stage, this Apple News+ service is available for one-month free trial. Apple promises to its users to provide Ads-free service in the Apple News+ subscription. As of now, Apple News+ has been launched in the United States and Canada. However, this service will be launching in the UK and Australia later this year.
