Apple could bring Glass Panel Keyboard to Future MacBooks


You might have noticed that Apple hasn’t brought any major changes to its MacBooks design in the past few years especially in the keyboard tray. Many Mac users have been frustrated by the bulky design of the keyboard of MacBooks which usually sticks with dust or debris. However, it seems like Apple is planning to replace its old model Keyboard with a futuristic glass panel keyboards.

As per the report spotted by Apple Insider, a patent application was recently published by USPTO, named “Computer with keyboard” which describes a keyboard made up of Glass without any movable keys. In place of physical keys, there some raised sections on the glass panel which will be used as keys. If the user touches on these raised sections, the software forces the system for input and the user will feel both tactile as well as haptic feedback. This helps the user to understand where he placed his fingers.

Until now, many companies had already tried to replace the physical keyboard with a virtual keyboard. However, these virtual touchscreen keyboards haven’t proved much useful as we didn’t get that feeling of keypress while fast typing and so we get confused which somehow became hinderance while typing. However, Apple has brought an impressive alternative to those traditional keyboards with such functionality. Also, it will be easier to remove dust and debris from the glass panel rather than removing from the complex structure.

Although it’s not confirmed yet by Apple that these futuristic Glass Panel keyboards will be available in the upcoming MacBooks, however, if they succeeded to integrate this technology it will be a great innovation by Apple.
