Recently Apple has removed an application from AppStore after it was discovered that the content on the app was Anti-Gay. The Living Hope Ministries App which is promoted and released by a Religious community in the United States has been accused of claiming that being gay is ‘sickness’, ‘addition’ and a ‘sin’. Not only this, but they also appealed youngsters “to change from gay-to-straight through prayer and therapy”.
Looking forward to this sensitive matter, Apple removed this app from AppStore. Apple stated that any app on the AppStore does not include “defamatory, discriminatory, or mean-spirited” contents including commentary about sexual orientation. However, an official statement about this app removal from AppStore is still not announced from Apple.
“We thank Apple for exemplifying corporate responsibility and taking swift action to remove a dangerous app that stigmatizes and demeans LGBT people,” Wayne Besen, Group Executive Director of Truth Wins Out, commented in a statement.
However, looking forward to this issue, Ricky Chelette, the executive director of Living Hope Ministries, said “he had not been told in advance that the app would be removed from AppStore” and also denied that it was a hate organization.
However, this app is still available on PlayStore and Amazon Appstore. And now, after this initial and important step taken by Apple towards this application, peoples are demanding from Google and Amazon to remove this application from PlayStore and Amazon Appstore respectively.
Now, these both Global giants are discussing this issue and will soon take some decision over this matter. And most probably, this app will also be discontinued from PlayStore and Amazon Appstore as people are forcing for its removal from these Platforms.
