ANZ Bank’s mobile app and online services are down, impacting millions of Australians.
‘We’re investigating an issue affecting some customers accessing the ANZ App and Internet Banking,’ the bank said in a statement.
‘We’re working to resolve this as soon as possible and apologise for the inconvenience.
‘The ANZ Plus app, Phone Banking, ATMs and EFTPOS facilities continue to be available.’
There have been thousands of reports to the Down Detector website since about 11:45am on Tuesday.
The ANZ outage appears to be Australia-wide with reports to Down Detector from every state and territory.
Customers have taken to social media to voice their frustration.
‘I’m trying to pay for wheel alignment so my son can pick his car up. Bet you don’t cover loss of wages as he can’t get to work,’ one said.
‘My partner is at the shops right now just done shopping and can’t even transfer money to pay for it,’ another said.
‘Locked out of every dollar that’s tied up at ANZ right now, hope your media release goes better then the Optus data breach did’ added third.
ANZ was forced to apologise last year after a major outage that also affected ATMs, cards transactions and branch computers in addition to the app and website.
A ‘system malfunction’ knocked out most services on September 29 between 1.30pm and 5pm.
‘We understand our customers rely on our banking services and that any disruption causes significant inconvenience. We let our customers down and for that, we’re very sorry,’ the bank said of that disruption.
