Last summer, Stranger Things’ fourth season dominated social conversations as the showrunners decided to split it into two parts. The finale left viewers feeling devastated, much like audiences felt when Thanos snapped his fingers in Avengers: Infinity War. Even though Season 5 hasn’t started filming yet, there’s a lot of information circulating around it. The Duffer Brothers announced that it will be the series finale and very different from the previous four seasons. While there is no official release date, based on the show’s track record, it may come out in late 2024. The Duffers prioritize content quality over delivery speed. The visual effects will be comparable to those in the Marvel Comic Universe, with a faster turnaround rate. Season 5 will be eight episodes, with an epic finale lasting around 2.5 hours. The Duffers have not addressed whether any of the original cast/characters will die, but they don’t want to kill them off for the shock value. Seasons 2 and 4 were nine episodes long, but most episodes in Season 5 will be closer to the earlier seasons. The finale of Season 4 left no time to build up to the action in Season 5, so it’s going full throttle from the first episode. Season 5 will feature leftover ideas from Season 2, and Will’s arc will have an emotional but exciting ending. Finn Wolfhard says Season 5 will answer a lot of questions and get back to the roots of why the show was special. Filming was initially set to begin in May, but it has been delayed due to the WGA Strike and Netflix’s failure to pay the writer’s room fair compensation.
