After facing numerous production issues, the highly anticipated biopic of The Beatles’ legendary producer, Brian Epstein, has finally wrapped up. Titled ‘Midas Man’, the movie stars Jacob Fortune-Lloyd of ‘The Queen’s Gambit’ fame in the lead role. According to Deadline, the film is now in post-production under the direction of Joe Stephenson, who was brought on board after two previous directors, Jonas Åkerlund and Sara Sugarman, ended their involvement with the project due to creative and scheduling differences. Stephenson expressed his gratitude towards the cast and crew for an “epic journey” in bringing Epstein’s story to life on the silver screen.
Brian Epstein, who managed several prominent pop acts in the 1960s, including The Beatles, played a pivotal role in their success. Despite his contribution to their legacy, Epstein struggled with substance abuse and kept his homosexual orientation a secret from the public eye. Tragically, he passed away at the young age of 32 due to an overdose of barbiturates and alcohol.
In addition to Fortune-Lloyd, the movie features renowned actors Emily Watson and Eddie Marsan as Epstein’s parents, while Lukas Gage portrays his lover Tex Ellington. The movie also stars Bill Milner, Rosie Day, Jay Leno, Jonah Lees, Blake Richardson, Leo Harvey Elledge, and Campbell Wallace playing the Beatles. ‘Midas Man’ is produced by StudioPOW and Trevor Beattie Films. Stay tuned to Collider for all updates on the movie.
