Android Users are Requested to Update Their Twitter App to Prevent Hacking

Recently, Twitter for Android got hit by a bug that could let the hackers fetch your Twitter account’s information easily. Today, Twitter has rolled out an update for Android users to fix this vulnerability on Android devices. If you have been using it on an Android device, then you are requested to go to the Play Store and update this app from there to keep your Twitter account safe.

This bug was reported as a major bug by the experts as it could let the hackers use your personal information as well as they can take full control of your account and can send direct messages or can compose a new tweet using your Twitter handle. To report this issue and to provide a proper fix, the microblogging giant has released an official blog post for the users.

However, they have said that we can’t be completely sure so we are taking extra caution.” Furthermore, the company has also contacted the persons who may have affected their Twitter accounts due to this bug. They have sent them an email with all the instructions and also suggest them to update their Twitter app.

If you are using an iOS device, then this bug is not present on the iOS platform. So yes, you are completely safe if you are using an iOS device and you don’t need to update the existing Twitter app for the same.

If any unusual activity found by your Twitter account, you will be sent an instructional note from the company. You just need to follow the instructions given in the guidelines to fix this potential issue. For Android users, you should update the Twitter app from the Play Store right away. Go to the Play Store, search for the Twitter app and get it updated from there by clicking on to the Update button.
