Android Q will soon be getting an iOS-like 3D-Touch feature in the coming updates. This feature was first introduced by Apple in 2015 with the launch of iPhone 6s which let the users to access different tasks just by pressing hard pressing the screen. However, Android still exists on the old-fashioned long-press feature to perform some tasks. But according to some latest documentation, it looks like Google is all set to bring the 3D-Touch feature on the release of Android Q.
According to the recent documentation found on the Android Developers, Google is planning to integrate a 3D-Touch feature called “Deep Press” natively in the Android Q. This feature will simulate new actions just by pressing hard on the screen instead of pressing it for a longer duration.
“It should be used to accelerate the long press behaviour,” the description reads on the documentation which suggests that the Deep Press feature will replace the existing long-press functionality. However, this is not clear though and might exist both of the features in Android Q.
Moreover, it will be interesting to see how Google implement this feature on Android Q as Apple uses pressure sensitive display on iPhones to register a harder press on the display for easier functionality of the 3D-Touch feature. However, it is unclear that this functionality will work on existing devices with Android Q or will only work on some specific display phones.
Meanwhile, Google has already released the Beta 1 and Beta 2 versions of Android Q in the last week to the developers. The Android Q comes with different interactive features which include sharing shortcuts, notification bubbles, better app switch animations, and improved permissions. The final build of Android Q is scheduled to be released during the I/O 2019 event which will run from May 7th to 10th in Mountain View, California.
