AMD has released its new offering AMD Radeon Pro WX 8200 at Siggraph 2018 graphics conference in Vancouver, Canada. It is second in the family of Radeon Pro WX cards based on Vega GPU.

The director of workstation graphics at AMD Nick Pandher at a press briefing said “We are inventing professional products for reliability, innovation, and performance. There’s a huge demand for visualization, where workflows are changing.”

He said that their latest offering could perform better as compared to Nvidia Quadro P5000 and P4000 graphics cards in media and entertainment applications. The cards can be used in creating high-end animations or virtual reality applications, as well as traditional computer-aided design (CAD) applications. The cards start at $1,000, and preorders will begin on August 13 on Newegg.com.

The company said that ‘visualization demand’ is rising in markets such as media, manufacturing, and architecture. The WX 8200 cards have 56 compute units that can perform at up to 11 teraflops, with support for 8K displays. It can support eight gigabytes of high-bandwidth 2 memory. A number of software partners from Autodesk to Adobe have certified that their software works with the new cards. It is 8GB Vega 10-based card, using 2 stacks of 4-Hi HBM2 memory and has High Bandwidth Cache Controller (HBCC) for system memory utilization.

Sitting lower to WX 9100 with trimmed specifications, AMD said the new card should perform admirably in advanced workloads such as real-time visualization, virtual reality, and photorealistic rendering. The WX 82200 produces 10.8 TFLOPS of single precision and 21.5 TFLOPS of half precision floating point procedures while the senior with more capabilities WX 9100 produces 12.3 TFLOPS of single precision and 21.5 TFLOPS of half precision floating point procedures.
