Amazon has said the new ball shape will help improve sound, with those thinking of getting the new standard Echo receiving Echo Plus-style audio at a much cheaper price. The £89.99 fourth-gen Echo boasts Dolby audio and benefits from 3.0-inch woofer and dual-firing tweeters to deliver stereo sound with clear highs, dynamic-mids, and deep bass.
The cheaper Echo Dot meanwhile boasts a 1.6inch front-firing speaker, and is available in two builds – one with an LED clock display and one without. These newly designed Echo and Echo Dot were unveiled by Amazon in September alongside a redesign for the Echo Show which features on the upcoming Echo Show 10.
Every one of these recently announced devices will come with a new Low Power Mode that is enabled straight out of the box. This will help reduce the amount of energy these products are drawing from the mains when they’re left plugged in around your home, cutting back on your electricity bills.
