After Elden Ring, Sekiro, Dark Souls, and Bloodborne, a key member of FromSoft is saying goodbye to the studio

Fans and non-fans of FromSoftware can all agree that the studio’s games feature exceptional music. From Dark Souls to Elden Ring, each game has its own iconic tracks that are widely recognized. One of the masterminds behind this impressive body of work is Yuka Kitamura, a long-time composer for FromSoftware.

After 12 years of being a core member of the Japanese team, Kitamura has announced her departure on Twitter. However, she reassures fans that she will continue composing music as a freelance composer starting in August.

Kitamura expressed her desire to continue expressing herself through game music across various genres. She invites fans to look forward to her future compositions. “Thank you all for your continued support,” she added.

Kitamura has created a website where fans can follow her work. The website includes a comprehensive list of all the games she has contributed to at FromSoftware, starting from Dark Souls 2 and Armored Core: Verdict Day. Her involvement in Elden Ring is also highlighted.

It’s uncertain whether Kitamura composed music for the upcoming Shadow of the Erdrtree DLC, as it is not mentioned on her website. Additionally, Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon is noticeably absent, suggesting that she may not have worked on that game either.

Despite her departure, we wish Kitamura the best in her future endeavors. For those seeking a different side of her musical talent, her website also features non-game music pieces. Additionally, YouTube provides a platform to explore her work on FromSoftware’s games.
