During Forza Monthly, Turn 10 unveiled an array of new gameplay and details on Forza Motorsport. The latest addition in the renowned racing simulation series features a unique single player mode called Builders Cup Career Mode, which is defined by Creative Director Chris Esaki as a ‘CarPG.’ This implies that cars in the game will not be available right away in their final form but can be improved throughout the career mode.
There are three themes to this mode. The first is centered around getting to understand a car and mastering its limits. The second involves taking that car and transforming it into a track dominator, while the third is all about competing and winning with that car on the track. This forms the new Forza Motorsport loop – Level, build, dominate.
What’s new in Forza Motorsport is the car mastery system. Each corner in a race-track is now a moment-to-moment objective, wherein players can see how fast they are through the corners and how close they are to their car’s limit. Each time you cross a particular corner, it will compare your time against your best time through that corner, enabling you to master your car. This helps you gain Car XP and level up in real-time. As your car levels up, it gains Car Points and unlocks upgrades.
Players can use the allocated Car Points to install an upgrade, but they are not locked into those choices. Users can easily uninstall a part and regain those Car Points, enhancing the player’s agency and experimentation in building their dream car.
The Builders Cup Career Mode comprises Open Practice, Challenge the Grid system, and a Featured Race. The Open Practice mode is designed to help players understand and get a feel for the track and its various conditions. Additionally, for the first time in the franchise, Forza Motorsport features fully dynamic weather and time of day. The Challenge the Grid system lets players choose where they want to start the race on the grid, which influences their payout at the end of the race.
New cars and tracks will now be available directly in the Career Mode, making it convenient for players to access the latest content. Turn 10 shared the preliminary list of cars and tracks available at launch on their website.
Forza Motorsport is set to release on October 10th for PC and Xbox Series S|X. Players can unlock five days of early access by purchasing the Premium Edition. With this new addition, Forza Motorsport is set to revolutionize the racing simulation game genre while staying true to its roots.
