A Guide to Watching the 2023 Women’s FIFA World Cup in Canada

The highly anticipated 9th edition of the Women’s FIFA World Cup is set to take place in 2023. Australia and New Zealand will be co-hosting the tournament, which will feature 32 nations competing over the course of one month. The competition is scheduled to begin on Thursday, July 20th and conclude on Sunday, August 20th.

Team Canada will kick off their campaign against Nigeria in Melbourne on Thursday, July 20th at 10:30pm ET/7:30pm PT. You can find more information about the match here.

In previous editions of the tournament, the United States has lifted the trophy four times (in 1991, 1999, 2015, and 2019), while Germany has won it twice (in 2003 and 2007). Norway and Japan have each won the World Cup once, in 1995 and 2011, respectively.

In Canada, coverage of the Women’s FIFA World Cup will be available through two major media outlets, CTV and TSN. CTV’s sports specialty channel, RDS, will also stream the tournament in French.

If you have cable, you can watch all the games on TSN, with CTV broadcasting Canada’s matches. Cable providers like Bell, Rogers, Shaw, Cogeco, and Vidéotron include TSN in their channel lineups, and CTV is available through most cable connections.

If your cable provider is Vidéotron, Bell, Telus, SunWire, TekSavvy or Cogeco, you’ll have access to RDS for coverage in French.

If you have a cable connection that gives you access to TSN or CTV, you can also stream the games live on the respective websites or apps using your cable credentials. The TSN app is available on Android and iOS, while the CTV app is available on Android and iOS as well.

If you don’t have cable, you can subscribe to TSN’s online streaming service. They offer monthly, four-month, and annual passes for access to TSN content. More information on subscriptions can be found here.
